As I was watching the Lincoln news tonight I heard the news that Nancy was killed in a mortorcylce crash. When I saw her picture I thought it looked like Nancy, but I was not sure because I did not know her married name. When I went to the 'Class of 72' website, it confirmed that it was Nancy.
Her picture reminded me of how Nancy looked in high school - always happy and smiling. She had a beautiful smile! My prayers are with her husband, sons and familes and her school family of teachers and students. When some of her colleauges were interviewed on TV, I was not surprised to hear what a wonderful teacher she was - from my memories that would be her personality - kind and giving.
Nancy and I became better acquainted after she moved to Lincoln 10 or so years ago. She always offered a big smile and a nice hug -- no one was a stranger to Nancy. There were 300 to 400 at her funeral -- a testament to the lives she touched and the friends she made.
Nancy was always making friends, or enjoying friends. Nancy, Vickie, and I shared an apartment back in 1973 or so. She was always busy, never sat still for very long. She was such a go getter, and always lots of fun to be around, and wore that beautiful smile. Very family oriented and definately loved them all.
I couldn't believe she was riding motorcycles... so I had commented to her back in April about this... and she wrote back that " the motorcycle made her feel total freedom, I can't think of a betterr way to travel! Will I see you this summer at the reunion?". Even though she enjoyed riding motorcycles she was eager to see everyone at the class reunion. I will miss not seeing her at the class reunion. And I hope everyone can make it, as we don't know who won't be at the next reunion.
