KEARNEY —Kelli Sue Petersen, 65, of Kearney died Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Good Samaritan Society – Saint Luke’s in Kearney after a short battle with cancer.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Gerald Schwarz officiating. Burial will follow at the Kearney Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., on Monday at Horner Lieske McBride & Kuhl Funeral Home.

Kelli was born March 9, 1954, in Kearney to Doug and Jo Anne Jones and graduated from Kearney High School in 1972.

As a youth she competed with the Kearney swim team and worked as a lifeguard at Harmon Park. She attended Kearney Beauty Center and received a cosmetology license. She then worked at Kearney Beauty Center, Aphrodite Salon and the Henderson Beauty Shop as well as the hair salons at Saint Luke’s, Homestead and Cambridge Court.

She married Arlen Petersen on Aug. 19, 1978, in Kearney. The lived in Henderson for a year before moving back to Kearney.

Kelli is survived by her daughter, Amanda Bowman and granddaughter, Kaylee of Kearney; sister, Cindy (Rick) Pope of Ravenna; and brother, Scott Jones of Kearney.

She was preceded in death by her husband on June 16, 2017; her parents; grandparents; and in-laws.

Memorials are suggested the Kearney Area Animal Shelter.
