Memorial services are pending for Cynthia Ann Dennis, 70, of Spring, TX and will be held in Kearney NE and in Spring, TX.  

Cynthia Ann (Wood) Dennis was born March 14, 1954, to Margaret (Snyder) Wood and Raymond Wood in Denver, Colorado and passed away on March 16, 2024, in Conroe, Texas.  

Cynthia graduated from Kearney High School in 1972. She grew up in the Holdrege and Kearney areas.  She spent a great part of her adult life in the communities near Houston, TX.    

Cynthia’s devotion to God was steadfast throughout her life.  She was an active member at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney NE where she was employed as their church secretary for several years.  After moving back to Spring TX last August, she joined St. Timothy's Anglican Church.  She was a member of the Daughter’s of the King and was the NE president before moving back to Texas. She helped organize Christian retreats and was a leader in many bible study groups.  She will be greatly missed by everyone that knew her as she was a kind, generous and compassionate person.  

Throughout most of her working career she worked as a case manager for the mentally and physically handicapped.   

Cynthia was called into service by the Holy Spirit to help people involved in human trafficking and was involved in several organization to help survivors here in Texas and in Nebraska. 

She reached out through an adopt a grandma organization and finally was given the lifelong dream to be a mother and grandmother when she met Kasey Smith and her son Grayson.  She grew to love and cherish both as daughter and grandson and made them part of all our lives. God has had a beautiful hand in bringing us all together. 

Cynthia was an avid reader and loved mystery and action films.   

Cynthia is survived by her daughter Kasey Smith, her mother Margaret Wood, her sisters; Patti Jones (husband Bob), Lora Webb (husband Jim), Brenda Lockler (husband Ronnie), and grandchild Grayson Smith.  

She is preceded in death by her father Raymond Wood and her sister Cheryl Sinner.
